Research Interests

Oceanic and continental divergent and trans-tensional plate boundaries; rift structures formation and evolution; surface deformation induced by magma; relationship between tectonics and magma; volcano deformation; earthquakes-volcanoes interaction along subduction zones.

Methods: structural fieldwork, drone and satellite imaging, multibeam mapping, Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS), analogue modeling of volcano-tectonic processes, optical and electronic microscope analysis (SEM) on dike samples.
Studied areas: active and fossilized magmatic systems (Iceland and Ethiopia); Nevados dos Chillán (Central Chile), Kirishima and Sakurajima (Japan), Askja volcanoes (Iceland); Faial Island (Azores, Portugal); Harrat Lunayyir volcanic field (Saudi Arabia); Northern Red Sea.
