The third CDI cruise completed

​On 1 September 2019, the KAUST research vessel R/V Thuwal, departed for the third CDI research cruise to the northern Red Sea. The main goal of the cruise was to do multibeam bathymetric mapping of active faults south of Tiran Island (Gulf of Aqaba area) and to map faults and volcanic landforms in the Mabahiss Deep area, just off the Al Wajh platform (The Red Sea project area). About a week was spent in each area and the cruise returned to KAUST on 18 September. Three CDI members were on the cruise, Daniele Trippanera (cruise leader), Margherita Fittipaldi, and Matthieu Ribot (IPGP).
