Nature Geoscience paper published

A paper reporting chemical changes in groundwater before two M5+ earthquakes in North Iceland has been published by Alasdair Skelton (Univ. Stockholm) et al. in Nature Geoscience. While no earthquake prediction is promised, the report shows statistically significant geochemical changes 4-6 months before a magnitude 5.6 in October 2012 and magnitude 5.5 in April 2013, following regular sample collection going back to 2008.  The CDI group contributed to the paper with stress-change calculations, writing, and graphics.  A note on the paper was published in Nature Geoscience as well, see here: geo2261.html and then the paper has caught some media attention, e.g. see here: Guardian
