Workshop at KAUST 4-6 March

A workshop with the title "2nd KACST-KAUST-JCCP workshop on surface and subsurface 4D monitoring" was held at KAUST 4-6 March. The workshop brought together researchers using different reservoir monitoring techniques (e.g. seismic, InSAR, EM, etc) and experts in data integration, time-lapse methods, history matching, etc. to exchange ideas for improved reservoir simulations. Several people working on InSAR and aquifer/reservoir modeling came to KAUST for the workshop, including Noel Gourmelen (Univ. Edinburgh), Estelle Chaussard (UC Berkeley), and Alessio Rucci (TRE, Milan). The workshop was organized by KAUST, KACST, and JCCP (Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum). On the KAUST side, the workshop was organized by Sigurjón Jónsson, Ibrahim Hoteit, Julieta Salazar, and Rasha Elkharbotly.

Several CDI students and postdocs presented posters at the workshop:

Xie Hu having a good time presenting her poster to Estelle Chaussard (UC Berkeley) on ground subsidence due to groundwater pumping in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia.

Teng Wang also having a good time presenting his poster to Mamoru Takanashi (JOGMEC, Japan) on SAR image offset tracking of earthquake deformation.

Rishabh Dutta discussing his poster with Peter Fokker (TNO, Netherlands). In the study he uses Bayesian estimation to constrain a fault model for the 2005 Fukuoka earthquake in Japan.

Wenbin Xu presenting his poster to Hitoshi Mikada (Kyoto Univ.) and Noel Gourmelen (Univ. Edinburgh). The study is on recent volcanic eruptions in the southern Red Sea.
